A Jet Airways flight bound for Kathmandu from Mumbai has made an emergency landing in the Nepali capital after its aircraft caught fire.
The cause of fire on flight 9W268 has been reported as a result of a bird strike.
Eyewitness Pradip Parajuli took to social media to post a picture of a plane on fire, saying: “There was a great noise, accompanied with smoke from the fire around 12.10pm at the Tribhuvan International Airport.”
The airline confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “Jet Airways flight 9W268 experienced a bird ingestion on approach and continued the flight with an uneventful and safe landing.
"The airline engineering team is currently inspecting the aircraft, and once satisfied, will release it for further operations."
According to the airline, all passengers aboard the Boeing B737-800 are safe.
