Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today urged Datuk Seri Najib Razak not to turn a deaf ear to the wishes of the people, saying the massive turnout for the Bersih 4 rally was a clear indication of the people's displeasure against him.
"I am very encouraged by this turnout. The people have braved the possibility of arrest by being here and for even wearing a (yellow) t-shirt.
"They are here in such great numbers. It shows that we are in agreement. Najib needs to go," the opposition leader told The Malaysian Insider during the street protest this afternoon.
She was speaking to The Malaysian Insider while taking a breather at Dataran Merdeka, waiting for Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah and other opposition leaders to arrive at the square.
Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah joined an estimated 50,000 people who had gathered at five meeting points in the capital city Kuala Lumpur to take part in the Bersih 4 which is scheduled to end at midnight tomorrow.
She said that as a leader, Najib needed to listen to the wisdom of the people, and the Bersih 4 rally was a strong message that the public was sending to the government.
"This will fall on deaf ears, but we appeal to his conscience," she said.
"Realistically, we do not expect a lot but it's enough for Malaysians to stand up and let their voices be heard." – August 29, 2015.
