RM5,000 fine for sending obscene video by email


KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been fined RM5,000 for sending an obscene video by email to a woman, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said.



The man, Azmi Yahya, pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court and was sentenced on January 15, the commission said in a statement.

The act of sending obscene content through e-mail is an offence under the Communications and Multimedia Act. 

It provides a maximum penalty upon conviction of RM50,000 fine or up to one year’s jail, or both.
