M’sians waiting in line to become suicide bombers in Syria

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians blowing themselves up for the Islamic State (IS) cause is by now, old news. Apparently, they are waiting in line to become suicide bombers in Syria, reported Mingguan Malaysia yesterday.

Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division head SAC Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay was quoted as saying that some 46 Malaysian militants were currently waiting to die as martyrs for the IS.

“Malaysians who join in the fight in Syria want to die as martyrs…but when they only get wounded in battles, their resolve to offer themselves to be in the front line is strengthened.

“This can be considered a ‘shortcut’ to martyrdom,” he told the weekend edition of Utusan Malaysia.

According to him, 18 Malaysian IS militants have been killed in Syria so far, seven of whom were suicide bombers.
