Speaker Pandikar Amin dismisses Stroke rumours

Rumours claiming that Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia is undergoing major surgery following a stroke, are false.

The rumours were dismissed by Pandikar's press secretary II Ng Chu Hing, who clarified that the rumours being spread via social media, were fake.

"No (it's untrue), he is okay," The Star Online quoted Ng as saying. Ng was also quoted as saying that Pandikar is currently in Singapore with his family for the school holidays.

When contacted, Pandikar appeared to be in a cheerful mood, saying that he was “hale and hearty” and that he was aware of the rumour.

"I heard of it but I don’t know why such rumours are being spread," he said.

He also urged people not to spread untrue rumours as it triggered concern among his family, friends and supporters.

The rumours began after a Facebook post by a user named Zulhisham Tokasid circulated through social media applications, stating that Pandikar had suffered a stroke and was undergoing a craniotomy.

This same user, last year, was also reported to have spread a false rumour of a 1Malaysia cemetery in Ledang, Johor.

In January 2010, Pandikar suffered a minor heart attack which requires a bypass surgery.
