Is Lim's lying over reason of snap polls cancellation, asked Gerakan

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's attempt to put the blame on PKR over the cancellation of snap polls for the state has backfired, said Penang BN chairperson Teng Chang Yeow.

He said PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had spoken about it and made it clear that seats allocation was not the issue for PKR in opposing the snap polls.

"Only one person is telling lies in Pakatan Harapan over snap polls. The answer is clear and loud as we believe that Wan Azizah is telling the truth.

"So, is Lim lying? Can he and his words be trusted," he said in a statement in George Town today.

Yesterday, Wan Azizah had expressed surprise over DAP's claim on the seat allocation issue and she said the issue was resolved following discussions between the two allies.

Last Sunday, Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, had announced that the snap election was scrapped because a consensus on it could not be reached among the Pakatan Harapan partners.

The other partner in the pact, Amanah, was in favour of the snap polls.

Teng, who is also Penang Gerakan chairperson, said Lim would blame others, especially BN, whenever he had a chance in order to put himself in a good light.

He also has slammed Lim's statement that Umno and Penang Gerakan could not reach consensus on certain issues including the proposal on a no-confidence motion.

"Penang Gerakan is not bound by what Penang Umno has to think, unlike DAP. The snap polls episode is proof that DAP has to bow to PKR despite having the most state seats in Penang," he said.

Meanwhile, Pulau Betong assemblyperson Muhamad Farid Saad said BN representatives will discuss in depth on the proposed no-confidence to be tabled in the state legislative assembly.

He said Penang state assembly opposition leader Jahara Hamid will make a statement on the matter after returning from abroad.
