Lee Chong Wei to meet Lin Dan in much awaited Olympic semi-finals cruncher
World No.1 Lee Chong Wei hardly tested as he stayed on track for the elusive Olympic badminton singles gold medal.
The 33-year-old was at his best performance as he defeated world No.7 Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan 21-9, 21-15 with ease in the men's singles quarter-finals at the Riocentro Pavilion 4.
The two-time Olympic Games silver medallist Chong Wei will face off arch rival Lin Dan of China for a place in the final on Friday.
Two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan fended off a strong challenge from India’s K. Srikanth before prevailing with a 21-6, 11-21, 21-18 win in the quarter-finals.
Chong Wei and Lin Dan have played 36 times over a decade with the Chinese maestro having won 25 times. Lin Dan has beaten Chong Wei in the last two Olympic finals at Beijing 2008 and London 2012. The outcome this time is everyone guess.
