Najib frustrated with Dr M but vow to continue carry out his duties

Prime Minister Najib Razak did not mentioned by name, but it was apparent that he, in his blog post today, was expressing his frustration over the actions of former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“It is disappointing to see a veteran leader today who is willing to discard his fight in the name of religion, race and country just to work with other parties whose goals are different from those he fought for back then,” Najib said, adding that all this was just to bring down a government which he had once built.

Najib, who is Umno president, said while the veteran leader in question had never lost before, now he was willing to do anything to run away from the fact that he had failed to achieve his goal of overthrowing the Barisan Nasional government.

“In order to defend his ego, he constantly throws allegations against me and members of my administration, but what he is saying is slander and exaggerated.”

The Prime Minister also asked if the veteran leader was not spared allegations during the time he was in power.

“Whatever accusations thrown against him, development continued. The country still went through a process of transformation despite his political enemies, who he is in cahoots with now, once accusing him of giving bribes, of abusing power and also calling him ‘kepala perompak’ (head of thieves).”

Najib pointed out that there was not much difference between what he was going through and what the veteran leader had gone through.

“I will continue to carry out my duties to develop my beloved religion, race and country even if I have to face these accusations (by the veteran leader),” Najib said.

“This is because the rakyat needs a leader who can serve them all the time and not one whose aim is just to bring down others.”
