Sharing secret documents dangered nation losing sovereignty, says Najib
Neo-colonization by foreign powers could occur if certain quarters are willing to share secret documents with outsiders, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"History shows that we would lose our sovereignty if we are willing to work in cahoots with foreigners,” said Najib.
Speaking at the opening of the Tangga Batu Umno division meeting, Najib said the Malacca Sultanate fell to the Portuguese when some locals were willing to work with foreigners.
“I will never allow this to happen again, and will defend the sovereignty of this country,” said Najib.
He added that some former Umno leaders were too emotional and were willing to work with foreigners to achieve their personal goals without considering the consequences.
“I will stand firmly when it comes to safeguarding the sovereignty of this nation,” said Najib.
He added that he would pass the baton on to his successor when the time is right as he was chosen democratically.
“No one can force me out just like that,” said Najib.
He added that loyalty to the party and nation should be of paramount importance to all Malaysians.
“Loyalty is an important element in keeping us bonded,” said Najib.
