Singapore PM taken ill during national day rally speech

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had taken ill at around 9.20pm while speaking at the National Day Rally, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Later Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean told the audience that PM Lee told him to convey the message that he will conclude his speech later.

In an update, the Singapore PMO tweeted: “PM was feeling unsteady because of prolonged standing, heat and dehydration. His heart is fine and he did not have a stroke.”
