Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana), the owner of RapidRail Sdn Bhd (RapidRail), sought to make amends for its LRT service disruptions this week with free rides for commuters from September 13 to 15.
“On behalf of RapidRail Sdn Bhd (RapidRail), we would like to offer our sincerest apologies over the (two) incidents; this is our way of showing appreciation to our loyal commuters.
“We are indebted to all our customers and we want to provide the utmost comfort to our passengers,” Prasarana Group managing director Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz was quoted telling a news conference here today by The New Straits Times on its website.
The rail operator came under fire on social media after a glitch stranded dozens of commuters on the elevated train tracks along the Kelana Jaya line during rush hour this morning, the second time this week.
Some of the stranded commuters posted photos of themselves walking on the tracks towards a station in the rain, which drew criticism from social media users even though it was part of the approved emergency evacuation procedure.
Azmi blamed this morning’s incident on an interruption to the train's power supply and said RapidRail will submit a report on the incident to the Land Public Transport Commission tomorrow morning, the daily added.
Two days ago, the LRT suffered a technical glitch that similarly stranded commuters at several stations between Gombak and Putra Heights during the peak hour rush.
