If I can work with Kit Siang, why not Anwar, says Dr M
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today there should be no issue with him working with former political nemesis Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim if he is willing to work with leaders like DAP's Lim Kit Siang.
News portal Malaysiakini quoted the former prime minister as saying in response to a question on whether he has held discussions with the PKR de facto leader on the issue of cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
“No, I did not discuss, but if I can work with Kit Siang, why can't I work with Anwar?” he reportedly said when met at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) today to receive official provisional approval for PPBM.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir and his ex-deputy Anwar met in court last Monday, even shaking hands, for the first time since the former sacked the latter from the Cabinet 18 years ago.
The significant meeting between Dr Mahathir and Anwar came after the former set up PPBM, amid speculation that the next general election may be held next year.
The Home Ministry announced yesterday that PPBM’s registration has been provisionally approved.
