Jamal wants Anwar's lawyer chased out of the country
Red Shirts movement leader Jamal Yunus has called for a rally outside the Federal Court in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 12 to protest against Anwar Ibrahim's US-based lawyer Kimberly Motley.
Jamal who is also the Sungai Besar Umno division chief was responding to what he described as Motley's attempt to incite Malaysians to gather in support with regard to the former opposition leader's application to review his sodomy conviction.
He said Motley should respect Malaysia’s laws and should not acts like a "crazy lawyer".
"She should know that the court has convicted and sentenced Anwar for sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
"Anwar is not a political prisoner as widely claimed and the crazy lawyer from America has no right to tarnish Malaysia’s judicial and legal system by inciting the people," said Jamal.
He said the people should protest against Motley’s involvement in Anwar’s legal team and force her to return to America.
Anwar has appointed the renowned human rights lawyer to assist in a number of cases, including his review of the February 2015 sodomy conviction.
The former opposition leader has always maintained that the sodomy charge, similar to the first against him in 1999, was fabricated by his political rivals.
However, the government has denied this.
Anwar is currently serving a five-year prison sentence.
