Dr M behind opposition walkout, claims Tajuddin
Deputy Minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said it was clear that the former prime minister “had a hand” in the walkout staged by the Opposition MPs during the tabling of Budget 2017 by Prime Minister Najib Razak, The New Straits Times reported.
Tajuddin supports blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s assertion that the walkout by opposition politicians during the Budget 2017 speech on Friday was the handiwork of Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“We don’t need Raja Petra to tell us that. I can tell you that he (Mahathir) is involved either directly or indirectly as he has already been working with the opposition to oust Najib.
“How can they (MPs) deny the fact that the walkout was not about protesting the budget but rather against Najib?,” Tajuddin was quoted as saying over the walkout which was criticised by some quarters, including politicians.
Commending Budget 2017 on matters pertaining to his ministry, Tajuddin said he was pleased that attention was given to farmers, fishermen as well as (the) huge allocation to young agropreneurs.
“The opposition could not accept the budget that was a comprehensive one, including for farmers, fishermen and young agropreneuers.
“But if they are not happy with the budget, they should have (at least) waited for its tabling to finish and do the protest elsewhere. Their action was an insult to the intelligence of the people,” NST quoted Tajuddin as saying.
Tajuddin, an Umno Supreme Council member, is not known to mince his words, when it comes to supporting Najib.
