Malaysiakini lodges police report against Red Shirts over office building "to fall" remark.

News portal Malaysiakini has lodged a police report against Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos for saying that the group will cause a part of the news portal's office building "to fall".

Its co-founder and editor-in-chief Stevan Gan confirmed that the portal had lodged a report at the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters on Friday.

"Because they (Red Shirts) are a threat, we want to make sure that the police are at hand to provide security tomorrow (Saturday)," he said.

On Thursday, Jamal had led a group of supporters to the Malaysiakini office in Kuala Lumpur at about 2.40pm.

He was met by Gan, editors RK Anand and Jimadie Shah Othman, and was allowed into the office along with 10 members of the group.

When inside, Jamal questioned the portal over the source of its funding and demanded that its management give an answer by noon on Nov 5.

"Otherwise, we will have a huge protest here and we will ensure that a part of this building will fall (runtuh)," said Jamal, adding that others could interpret what he said however they liked.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had told Malaysiakini on Thursday to lodge a police report over Jamal's statement.
