No 'Bersatu' acronym for PPBM or risk deregister, warns RoS
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has been warned that it could be deregistered if the party continues using the word "Bersatu" in any of its programmes and activities.
In a letter dated Nov 8, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) warned the party that stern action including deregistration could be taken if PPBM continued doing so.
Registrar Nawawi bin Mat said in the letter that the party was not allowed to use the word Bersatu in its ceramah, publications, posters and buntings among other things.
Nawawi said that office bearers had the responsibility to follow the requirements under the Societies Act 1966 and Societies Regulations 1984.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zaid Hamidi had previously said that the RoS had not allowed the party to be known or use the acronym "Bersatu" as there were six other registered political parties and organisations that have the word Bersatu in their name.
