There are now about 50,000 participants attending Bersih 4 although is raining

Rain fails to extinguish protesters' spirit
3.35PM: Dataran Merdeka - It has started raining, and while some are seeking shelter, others refuse to budge. They continue to cheer and chant 'Najib Undur' and 'Hidup Rakyat'.

Crowd swells to 50k
3.00pm - Dataran Merdeka - There are now about 50,000 participants attending Bersih 4 despite the heat and haze.
Based on an aerial survey, the largest concentration of the crowd is at the intersection of Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Raja, which is as close as the participants can get to Dataran Merdeka without running afoul of the police or rally marshals.

Of the estimated 50,000, about 10,000 are seen thronging the stretch of Jalan Tun Perak leading from the Masjid Jamek LRT station and Dataran Merdeka.
Substantial numbers of Bersih protesters are also spotted along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman near its intersection to Jalan Tun Perak, and at the opposite side of Dataran Merdaka at the intersection of Leboh Pasar Besar and Jalan Hang Kasturi.

'We fear not oppressive laws'
2.30pm: Jalan Tun Perak - As the Bersih programme continues after a two-hour break, the over 30,000-strong crowd continues listening to speeches and watching street performances under the haze-steeped sky.
Addressing to the crowd, Bersih committee member New Sin Yew jokes that all the protestors are "criminals" as the government has banned yellow Bersih T-shirts as well as the rally.
"No matter what the government does, we are all here.
"We are not afraid of oppressive laws. We have our rights under the federal constitution," he says to the crowd's cheers.
Some volunteers are trying to control the noise levels by holding up "No vuvuzelas" signs, but most of the crowd ignores it and continues the din of trumpet sounds.
