Malaysia will run out of PMs if Najib quits over graft allegations: Minister
KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia will run out of prime ministers if national leaders were made to quit over allegations that have yet to be proven, Malaysian minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan said today (Sept 5).
Mr Abdul Rahman was asked to respond to calls for Mr Najib Razak to resign over an unresolved controversy on a RM2.6 billion (S$859 million) donation that made it into the Prime Minister’s bank accounts.
“That’s the easy way out. I don’t think our prime minister should just succumb to allegations.
“Otherwise we will be out of prime ministers,” the minister of urban-wellbeing, housing and local government told reporters, later pointing out that the federal opposition would always come out with fresh allegations.
Mr Abdul Rahman pointed out that an investigation into the RM2.6 billion is still ongoing. “So as long as there is no proof, no charge, no verdict, he will have to go on,” he said. MALAY MAIL ONLINE
