Gerakan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia hopes embassy will provide ‘honest and sincere answers’ to questions surrounding the donation made to PM’s bank accounts.
PETALING JAYA: The Saudi embassy today received a letter containing 10 questions related to the RM2.6 billion donation made to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s bank accounts.
The letter, sent by Umno rebels Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Umno (GKCM), was meant to obtain answers to questions the public is asking about the donation.
“The letter contains a plea for help to restore the country’s dignity, bruised by unresolved queries surrounding the generous donation attributed to the Saudi royal family.
“We call on the embassy to provide us with honest and sincere answers,” the rebel pact’s president, Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, told reporters in front the embassy here today.
According to Kamarul, the Saudi embassy welcomed the group’s attendance and promised to answer all questions posed.
He cited lack of trust in Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali’s decision not to press any charges against Najib over the donation as the reason for the group’s move to go straight to the embassy to seek answers.
“We believe this issue will never be resolved. Statements are conflicting.”
