Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Communications Director Khalid
Samad chided PSM Secretary-General A Sivarajan for his unknowledgeable statement
that Opposition parties were only contesting in the Sungai Besar and Kuala
Kangsar by-elections because they were too caught up in showing off their big
egos.
At the PSM National Congress yesterday, Sivarajan said the
by-elections were not significant in bringing changes and that Opposition
parties were merely interested in contesting to “show off their egos.”
Khalid said Sivarajan himself was egoistic for failing to
understand the importance of contesting in the by-elections.
“The guy must be lost in his own ego if he cannot understand
the issues,” Khalid shot back.
The Shah Alam MP has reasoned that the aim of contesting in
the by-elections was to prove that Pakatan Harapan (PH) was competent as an
Opposition pact.
“The main aim is to prepare for the GE (general election) by
introducing and proving PH to be a better coalition to PR (Pakatan Rakyat).
Winning will prove that PH has won acceptance while the rakyat has rejected BN
(Barisan Nasional).”
Meanwhile DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok weighing in by saying
that it was easy for Sivarajan to make such a statement as the constituency did
not affect his party.
“It’s a battle between BN and PAS vs Pakatan Harapan so it
may not affect them but it does affect us,” she said.
PKR leaders could not be reached for comment.
