PAS is convincing the Chinese community in Kuala Kangsar
to give the Islamic law of hudud a try, as it will help ensure the safety of
their women.
According to a report by Malaysiakini, PAS candidate Dr
Najihatussalehah Ahmad said this when campaigning in Kampung Baru Jerlun, the
only Chinese new village in the constituency, yesterday evening.
PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, echoed Najihatussalehah’s
sentiment, stressing that hudud would ensure the safety of the community’s
women.
“Do we like it when ‘Ah Mois’ are harassed? Do we like to
see our daughters and wives being harassed. Of course, we don’t,” he was
reported as saying, adding that the Shariah-based law would also curb
robberies.
Hudud made thunderous headlines after PAS President Abdul Hadi
Awang’s Private Member’s Bill was suddenly expedited in Parliament by Minister
in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said last month.
With the tabling of the Shariah Courts (Criminal
Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016, Hadi seeks to enhance the powers of the
Shariah Courts in exacting punishment on Muslims according to hudud laws.
Polling for Kuala Kangsar by election will be held on June 18.
