Rahman Dahlan relieved that the MACC has decided to take action against the chief minister

“Transparency and accountability must be practised, not preached.”

This comment was made by BN Strategic Communications Director Abdul Rahman Dahlan on the arrest of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Lim will be charged in the Sessions Court tomorrow over the purchase of a bungalow in Penang.

In a press statement released this evening, Rahman said it was his hope that the MACC would carry out its duties without fear and favour like they always do.

“And eventually this will bring us the truth and justice.”

He said he raised the matter of the purchase of the bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn in March this year because he “believed there are wrongdoings within the transaction and the people of Penang deserve nothing but the truth”.

“Clearly, DAP’s slogan of being the most clean political party in Malaysia does not hold water, post Lim Guan Eng’s arrest by MACC today.”

He said the course of justice must be a swift one.

“After months of internal investigation and intense public discourse, I am relieved that the MACC has decided to take action against the chief minister.”
