Jamal Yunos challenged Maria Chin to hold Bersih 5
Datuk Jamal Yunos has announced that he will organise a rally in “defence of constitutional democracy” simultaneously as Bersih 5.
At a press conference in front of Sogo shopping complex here, the Sungai Besar Umno division chief said it was up to Malaysians to defend the position of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“Najib, who was democratically elected, should be defended by all Malaysians the same way Turkey defended their ruling government when there was a coup against it,” he said.
Jamal then called on Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin to hold the Bersih 5 rally which she had announced on Friday.
“We welcome them to have it. Let’s see their strength and the people’s confidence in them.
“This time, we will arrange and will have more people. We are confident that Malaysians will believe in the Constitution and in the next general election which will take place in another year-and-a-half or two years,” he said.
Jamal said he was expecting more than 300,000 people to gather for the upcoming Red Shirt Rally 2.0.
“We will gather bigger than ever and we will paint KL red,” he said.
He further called out former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Malaysian Bar president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and Maria as traitors.
“Why every time there is an issue, you incite the rakyat to gather?
“I think this is stupid, and I think leaders like this are those who make the rakyat stupid. They should not be entertained by the rakyat,” he said.
