A large group of fans turned up at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today to welcome Malaysian athletes home from the Rio Olympics 2016.
The crowd gathered at the Komplex Bunga Raya let out a thunderous laud roar of 'Malaysia Boleh' the moment they caught the athletes entering the hall.
Eager fans rushed to shake their hands while others, with their phones in one hand, sought opportunities to take selfies with the athletes.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced that an extra RM200,000 to the five Malaysian Olympic medallists as a reward for their performances at the recently-ended Rio Games.
Najib, who was at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport here to welcome home the Malaysian contingent, said the cash incentive was an additional sum promised earlier.
Besides fans, family members of the athletes and politicians such as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai were also at the complex to welcome the team.
