A 21-year-old man was seriously injured in his legs and face after his car went out of control at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here.
The car was destroyed in the accident which occurred at about 1am on Sunday.
Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said the driver has no driving licence and the car's road tax is also expired.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that he was the only person in the car, and we believe that he was driving at high-speed before losing control of his vehicle, and ramming into the road shoulder," said Supt Anbalagan on Sunday.
He said the police are looking for eyewitnesses to assist in the investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
