JOHOR BARU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Police have arrested six soldiers for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl and robbing her boyfriend at a seaside area in Pontian Besar.
It is learnt that the victim was with her boyfriend when they were approached at 10am on Tuesday by a group of men in army uniform who accused them of making out in a public place.
Some of them stood guard over the boyfriend while the others dragged the girl to a secluded area and allegedly took turns to rape her.
The 16-year-old boyfriend tried to stop them but he was overpowered and assaulted by the culprits, who then escaped with his valuables including his mobile phone.
It is believed that one of the suspects had forced the victim to perform oral sex on him during the one-hour ordeal.
All the six men, who were picked up by the police on Wednesday, tested positive for drugs.
Aged between 20 and 30, they were brought to a magistrate's court in Pontian on Thursday and remanded for nine days.
Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff confirmed the arrests but declined to comment further as investigations were still ongoing.
"All I can say is that the suspects are in police custody to assist with the investigations," he said.
