Sarawak Report (SR) should be investigated for threatening
national security, a minister said today after the website disclosed what it
claimed to be a classified Auditor-General's report.

website’s claim, if true, would be a breach of the Official Secrets Act 1972
(OSA).
“The recent declaration that Sarawak Report has in its
possession of a document classified under OSA warrants investigation by the
police.
“Such an investigation needs to be undertaken urgently and
expeditiously to prevent further leakages of official secrets documents which
may put the country in security jeopardy,” Salleh told Malay Mail Online when
contacted today.
He also insisted that those responsible must be tried in a
Malaysian court in order to safeguard the country's sovereignty.
Sarawak Report yesterday claimed it has “extensive access”
to the A-G's report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), to which even members
of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) have limited access.
Today, it also published what it claimed to be a letter from
Bank Negara Malaysia to PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Ariffin that was related to
the committees probe on 1MDB.
Sarawak Report was blocked by the Malaysian Communications
and Multimedia Commission for publishing “unverified” news last year, and
access to the website remains restricted from within Malaysia.
