Foreign funding of local non-governmental organisations are suspect because their financial backers have their own agenda, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
In contrast, the Saudi royal family’s RM2.6 billion donation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak was without conditions, Khairy added.
“It is very clear that the donation given was without any condition and it was stated in the letter to the prime minister, while foreign funding for NGOs comes with certain agenda.
“Go and see Open Society Foundations, they have their own agenda. They must organise certain programmes to further their cause, so it is very different,” the youth and sports minister told reporters after officiating at the Youth Against Radicalisation conference here.
