PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad has not ruled out the possibility of contesting in Putrajaya, the nation’s administrative capital which was built during his tenure as prime minister, in the coming general election (GE14).

“Yes, maybe I will stand in Putrajaya,” the PPBM chairman said when met at the party’s headquarters here this evening.

Last year, Amanah suggested that the former prime minister stand in Putrajaya.

Putrajaya Amanah member Mohd Radzi Abu Bakar said then that Mahathir was a more suitable candidate than Husam Musa, who had contested for the seat as the PAS candidate in GE13.

“Tun Mahathir is generally known as the ‘master planner and architect’ who succeeded in developing Putrajaya into a landmark of success in terms of Malaysia’s development,” Mohd Radzi said.

In GE13, Husam only managed to secure 4,402 votes and lost to Umno’s Tengku Adnan Mansor, who garnered 9,943 votes.
