Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar had an audience with Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim at the Istana Bukit Pelangi in the state capital this morning.
It was over the prince's claim that his phone was being tapped and his movements monitored by the police Special Branch.
Khalid told reporter later that, it was nothing more than a misunderstanding.
"I had an audience with the crown prince. It was a misunderstanding, and the issue has been cleared," he added.
However, the police chief refused to elaborate on the matter.
"The issue has been settled, and the matter has been explained to the prince," he added.
Khalid was accompanied by Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd during the 30-minute audience with the prince.
Yesterday, Tunku Ismail, in a Facebook posting, also claimed that, the Bukit Aman police headquarters had opened files on him and his father Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Lamenting that he was being accorded treatment similar to that of a terrorist, he said: "I am a leader who cares for my people. Not a terrorist. I'm not dangerous. I have never killed anyone except for Malaysian football."
"I don't understand why my phone is bugged. I don't understand why my movements are monitored by the special branch.
"I don't understand why they need a file about me or my father in Bukit Aman," he had stated in the posting, which featured a question and answer session between the prince and a journalist.
Although during the initial part of the interview, Tunku Ismail had spoken about football, he however dropped the bombshell about being monitored by the police clandestine unit when asked if he had any other messages at the end.
