Hardcore poor families registered with the government's welfare database will receive 20kg of rice every month as part of the government's aid scheme for this group, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.
The move is under the MyBeras programme announced as one of the recalibration measures for Budget 2016 today, and will last until December this year.
"The government is sensitive to the plight of the people due to the higher living cost, especially the hardcore poor.
"So we have come up with MyBeras, where every poor family who registers will be given 20kg rice every month.
"This is one of the steps to reduce the burden of poor families in place until December this year," Najib said in his announcement in Putrajaya today. – January 28, 2016.
