The weakening ringgit is affecting talent sourcing including attracting local talent overseas, an analyst said.

PwC Strategy& (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Senior Executive Director Edward Clayton said attracting talented people had become more difficult as the country was seen as less attractive due to the weakening of the local currency.

"It is hard to persuade talented people to come to work in Malaysia when the ringgit is down," he said.

He also pointed out that another hurdle in attracting talents to the country was the tax structure, saying that the income tax was seen by individuals as a less attractive feature of working in Malaysia.

This is in contrast with some countries in West Asia which did not implement such tax, he added. – Bernama, January 26, 2016.
