PETALING JAYA: One thousand Touch ‘n Go cards will be distributed at the cash lanes of every toll plaza on the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar Expressway) on Merdeka Day.
Latar operations chief Ahmad Fuad Ahmad Shahimi said the distribution would be done on Monday, Aug 31, from 12.01am until stocks run out.
“This is one of our corporate social resposibilities, and a token of appreciation to our loyal road users for their support.
The cards are also to encourage more road users to move to an electronic payment system for tolls.
“It is a timely move because the cashless toll payment system, either via Touch ‘n Go or SmartTag, will be implemented in all Malaysian highways starting next year,” he added in a statement.
Ahmad Fuad observed that using the Touch ‘n Go or a SmartTag would make road journeys easier and help motorists avoid the long queues and traffic at toll plazas, especially at the cash lanes.
“We also extend our Merdeka Day wishes to all Malaysians, especially Latar Expressway users, and hope this year’s Independence day increases their love for the country, in line with this year’s ‘Sehati Sejiwa’ theme,” he said.
