KUALA LUMPUR: A group that is against the Bersih 4.0 rally on August 29-30, has threatened to gather tens of thousands in front of the home of Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah if the rally is held.
Gabungan NGO-NGO Malaysia leader Jamal Mohd Yunos said Bersih organisers would face about 30,000 people if they continued with the rally.
“We will also not hesitate to gather 6,000 to 7,000 people to open up stalls in front of Maria’s house,” Malaysiakini quoted Jamal as saying.
Wearing yellow t-shirts with the words ‘Kita menyokong Perdana Menteri (We support the Prime Minister), the group protested in Jalan Masjid India today.
The group brought along a cardboard cutout of Maria which was dumped into a rubbish bin and stomped on.
Jamal said previous rallies had affected the country’s peace and image in the eyes of tourists.
