Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said the AG’s
Chambers has reviewed the papers it received from the commission on May 26 and
found that several matters needed to be investigated further to complete the
case.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said today his
department has returned the investigation papers on Lim Guan Eng’s controversial house
purchase to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further
probe.
In a statement, Apandi said the AG’s Chambers has studied the papers it received from the commission on May 26 and found that several
matters needed to be investigated further to complete the case.
“Therefore, the department returned the papers today to
enable the MACC to complete the investigation.
“This department has also ordered that the papers be
returned as soon as possible,” the AG said.
Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, was investigated for
alleged corruption over the purchase of his double-storey standalone house on Jalan
Pinhorn, George Town, which he had previously rented from businesswoman Phang
Li Koon.
The papers were opened in March, after Umno’s Tasek Gelugor
MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya accused Lim of buying his house at below market value,
and tied this to the state government’s open tender sale of Taman Manggis to
the Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre (KLIDC) in 2010, alleging the land
was also sold at below market value.
The Bagan MP, his wife and former landlord have been
subjected to repeated questioning from the MACC and the police over the past
few weeks.
