Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has denied any link to a seditious Facebook post currently under police probe, purportedly belonging to Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos.

Insisting that linking him to the account, believed to be fake, was a malicious attempt at tarnishing his name, Lim said it was clear that the “Umno leader”, had run out of ideas by making such a claim.

Although Lim did not mention names, it is believed he was referring to Jamal, who claimed that DAP was behind the setting-up of a fake Facebook account under his name.

A September 21 post on the account is being probed for sedition as it threatened “flying parangs” and a repeat of the May 13 racial riots, should the Bersih 5 rally take place as planned on November 19.

Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, was speaking to reporters after opening the Bersih 2.0 photography exhibition at the Town Hall here today. Also present at the event was Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah as well as Penang DAP and PKR elected reps.

Lim said Jamal should lodge a police report if indeed the said social media account was not his, instead of dragging others into the matter.

Now that his name had been implicated, Lim said he too would lodge a police report to counter the allegations.
