Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has instructed Datuk Jamal Md Yunos to control the Red Shirts and to abide by the law after they allegedly attacked Bersih 2.0 supporters recently.
According to Sinar Harian, Nur Jazlan also rubbished claims by Jamal that the police treated both groups differently.
“That is what he wants to say [on allegations that the police treated Bersih and Red Shirts supporters differently]...the problem is he has to control his men so they do not go against the law.
“The police are performing their responsibilities sternly and fairly without looking at whether one is from Bersih or Red Shirts,” he was quoted as saying.
Jamal, who is the Sungai Besar Umno division chief, and the Red Shirts gathered in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, last week to stop the Bersih convoy from making their nationwide tour ahead of the November 19 rally.
Several of the Red Shirts were seen causing serious injuries to a Bersih supporter, who was allegedly pulled off his motorbike, kicked and punched.
Selangor police said yesterday that both Bersih 2.0 and the Red Shirts will be questioned over their clash at Sabak Bernam.
