Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is suing Nasrudin Hassan again after the Temerloh MP failed to pay him RM10,000 in legal costs awarded to settle their defamation lawsuit.
According to Lim’s special legal officer Raja Syarafina Raja Shuib, both parties had settled Lim’s defamation suit against Nasrudin out of court on January 18.
An order for payment of the cost was extracted from the courts on September 14 and forwarded to Nasrudin by registered post on September 19. However, the PAS lawmaker has yet to pay up after three weeks, Raja Sharafina said.
“His failure or refusal to pay the costs as ordered by the court is a contempt of the court order,” she added.
Raja Syarafina added that Lim’s lawyer has been instructed to proceed with legal action against Nasrudin for his failure to pay the RM10,000.
Lim who is also DAP secretary-general had filed a defamation suit against Nasrudin over the latter’s Facebook posting titled “Apa beza Kidex dan Penang Tunnel [What’s the difference between Kidex and Penang Tunnel]” dated August 6, 2014.
They reached the out-of-court settlement in January this year after Nasrudin agreed to apologise in court and withdrew the portion of article that was deemed slanderous.
