DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng today became the first lawmaker to be ejected from the Parliament’s special chambers since its introduction in May this year.
Lim was asked to leave the special chambers involving the Federal Territories Ministry by Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia owing to a personal argument between the two.
“When I stood up to make my adjournment speech, the Speaker stopped me and started lecturing me,” Lim said during a press conference after leaving the chambers.
Pandikar had expressed his dissatisfaction with several of Lim’s public statements in the past in which the latter had criticised the Speaker’s handling of Dewan Rakyat procedures.
At this point, Lim attempted to read out his adjournment speech, and in the ensuing argument, he said he had called Pandikar a “disgrace”, eventually leading to him being asked to leave the chambers.
