KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25, 2016:
The Malaysian-Indonesian unit of the Islamic State (IS) group has allegedly sent a warning video to Malaysia for beefing up efforts in fighting against the terror group.
According to The Star Online, the group called Khatibah Nusantara, posted a warning video in Bahasa Malaysia and threatened to expand its group if Malaysia continued arresting its group members.
“If you arrest us, we will continue increasing the number of our group members, but if you let us be, we will be a step closer in achieving our goal of bringing back the rule of Caliphs.
“We will never follow the democratic system of governance as we will only follow Allah’s rules,” it wrote. It is reported that the title of the video posted was “Mesej Awam Kepada Malaysia” (“Public Message for Malaysia”).
In the same report, Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division head Senior Asst Commissioner Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the threat reflected the group’s brazen stance.
He said the counter terrorism division was constantly on the alert and it was not an option to let their guard down.
Considering that terror attacks could occur at any time, he said the main element in preventing them was reliable intelligence.
Yesterday, it was reported that seven individuals, alleged to be part of the terror group, were arrested in a three-day operation conducted by the police Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division.
Inspector-General Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said those arrested were members of the same cell and were planning terror attacks in several locations across Malaysia.
