DAP supremo asks why Speaker Pandikar Amin disallowed questions on RM2.6b this time but allowed them at the last sitting.

PETALING JAYA: DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang is demanding that Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia explain why he disallowed questions on the RM2.6 billion donation at the current parliamentary session.

The Gelang Patah lawmaker asked in a statement why Pandikar had allowed such questions to be raised in the previous sitting but not now.

“The Speaker must satisfy MPs and the Malaysian public for such double standards as it is completely unacceptable if the Speaker is now in the forefront blocking parliamentary query to get to the bottom of Najib’s twin mega scandals,” he said alluding to controversies surrounding 1MDB and the RM2.6b donation.

He added that Pakatan Harapan MPs had submitted numerous questions on the RM2.6 billion “donation” only to find that Pandikar had disallowed these.

Lim lamented that the RM2.6 billion “political” donation had now ballooned to RM4.2 billion.

He wanted an update on the “investigation by the authorities”, adding it appeared that there was no authority in Malaysia investigating this multi-billion ringgit political donation.

“There is also the very pertinent question of whether the “donor” for the RM2.6 billion had been identified.”

The RM2.6 billion donation made headlines following an expose by The Wall Street Journal which alleged that the sum, banked into Najib’s personal accounts, came from 1MDB.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, however, later explained the money was from a Middle Eastern donor who has not been identified by the authorities till date.
