So, former Kedah MB asks, how could PM Najib Razak have returned RM2.03b of the RM2.6b donation.

PETALING JAYA: Former Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir is questioning how Prime Minister Najib Razak managed to return RM2.03 billion of the RM2.6b donation he had received.

This, he claimed, was because Najib had “admitted” to spending RM1.5b of the donation for GE13.

In a YouTube video taken in Kota Bharu and uploaded onto blogger Din Turtle’s blog yesterday, Mukhriz said he had previously raised the issue of the donation at an Umno liaison chiefs meeting which was attended by party president Najib and secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Mukhriz said Tengku Adnan answered that a lot of it was used for the elections but did not divulge the exact amount.

“Suddenly, Najib interjected and said it was RM1.5 billion,” Mukrhriz said.

Mukhriz said he wondered how Najib could have returned RM2.03b to the donor when only RM1.1b would have been left over after the general election.

Saying even a child would know that the numbers did not add up, he added that there were so many lies that it was difficult to know the truth.

Mukhriz also revealed that at the meeting, he had lamented that even though the party had spent so much on the GE, Barisan Nasional ended up losing seven additional MP seats.

“We could not even match the results of the last GE under Pak Lah (former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi).”

He said it was then that Tengku Adnan said “What do you know, you are a young man.”

“I told him this young man won Kedah back, from four MP seats to 10 MP seats, so don’t belittle the abilities of Kedah Umno.”

Pointing out that in the past, the BN did not spend so much on elections but yet managed to win a two-third majority, Mukhriz wondered how the RM1.5b was really spent.
