Wong Chen of PKR says Najib Razak's answer that "SRC had no information on the issue" is contrary to AG Apandi Ali conceding the transfer did take place.
KUALA LUMPUR: The reply of Finance Minister Najib Razak to a parliamentary question regarding the RM42 million deposited into his personal bank accounts is a “blanket denial” of the matter, a PKR lawmaker alleged today.
Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen of PKR said Najib’s (BN-Pekan) written reply to his question as to who transferred the huge sum and if the money had been returned to SRC International, was “shocking to say the least.”
“It represents a blanket denial of the existence of the alleged transfer. This is contrary to Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali’s press statement on SRC International where he acknowledged that the transfer happened, but PM is not to be charged.
“The AG also inadvertently showed a flowchart of the SRC money transfer,” he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
Najib, who is also the Prime Minister, had in his reply, stated that SRC had no information on the issue as it was based on an unverified report in a news portal. He did not elaborate which portal he was referring to.
Wong said if that was the case, then the four bodies probing the matter, namely the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), the Auditor-General, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and Bank Negara Malaysia – should reveal their findings.
“On the alleged SRC transfer, did it happen or not?
“If all these four bodies can prove that this transaction never happened then I will be satisfied with the answer given by the Finance Minister.
“If any of them can refute the denial and confirm that such a transaction did happen, then it proves that the PM has lied in Parliament."
